Sellinger EMBA Aims to Hire More Than Just One Youth
Stacy Wirth, an EMBA candidate from the Sellinger School of Business, is trying to make a difference for inner-city youth with job opportunities. She is a corporate ambassador for the Baltimore City Mayor’s Hire One Youth initiative, and organization that helps corporations in the region offer paid internships to inner city youth.
Hire One Youth prescreens job applicants for skills and interests, and provides a minimum of six hours of job readiness training to each applicant before referring them to your company for interviews, and looks to engage 16-21-year-olds who are responsible, motivated and engaged. Kogod MBA Alumni Honored By School’s Dean
Last month, the Kogod School of Business’ Dean Erran Carmel recognized philanthropic alumni for their community service at the school’s annual Dean’s Dinner. The 2015 Community Leadership Award was presented to Chris Donatelli, MBA ’91, which honors an alumnus exhibiting exemplary leadership skills to make a positive impact in the community.
Donatelli was given this award based off his tireless commitment to some of the DC Metro’s most neglected neighborhoods. Mason School of Business Graduates 1,200
George Mason’s School of Business walked 1,200 students at this year’s graduation ceremony, bringing the school’s total alumni count up to more than 28,000. Each year at graduation time, the School of Business also takes time to recognize the top graduate in each program—those students who went above and beyond during their time at Mason. Apple’s Tim Cook Headlines GWSB Commencement Speaker Schedule
Commencement at George Washington University takes place over the entire course of this week before coming to its conclusion on Sunday, May 17. Those receiving their MBAs from the GW School of Business have an impressive array of talented and influential people set to speak to them during the ceremonies.
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, will be the university-wide commencement speaker. Once named to Time magazine’s 100 most influential people and the Financial Times’ Person of the Year for 2014, Cook joined Apple in 1998. He served as the company’s chief operating officer before being named Steve Jobs’ successor as CEO. Cook earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Auburn University and an MBA from Duke University, where he was a Fuqua Scholar. Continue reading…
