Zicklin hosts Financial Markets Conference
The Zicklin School of Business will host the Financial Markets Conference on Nov. 11 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The conference titled, “40 Years of NMS: Who are the Winners and What Have we Learned?” will cover the history and effects of the National Market System. The event will feature the opening address by Thomas Gira, Executive Vice President of Market regulation at FINRA as well as a mid-day address by Nandini Sukumar, CEO of the Word federation of Exchanges.
Zicklin Hosts UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Discussion
The Robert Zicklin Center for Corporate Integrity at the Zicklin School of Business will host the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development- Impacts on Companies and their Stakeholders. The event will be hosted in partnership with the The Sustainability Practice Network and will feature a panel discussion that will focus on the newly created Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The SDG were developed after the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) that were established from 2000 to 2015. These goals helped with the development of companies, nations and municipalities. The MDG addressed issues such as poverty, gender equality, education and environmental sustainability.
The new SDG will set the stage for the world’s development over the next 15 years. The SDG aims to create sustainable development around the world. The SDG feature 17 goals and 169 specific targets. They also focus on the HDG’s goals of addressing poverty, hunger, education, gender equality, child mortality, HIV-AIDS, Environmental sustainability, global partnership and maternal health. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development panel discussion will confront the issues surrounding the SDG and how it will affect the global business community.
Zicklin Partners with Israeli School for Dual MBA Program
The Zicklin School of Business has partnered with the College of Management Academic Studies (COMAS) in Israel to launch a new dual MBA program. Students in this program will receive an American MBA from Zicklin and an Israeli degree from the College of Management Academic Studies. COMAS is the first non-subsidized, non-profit academic institution in Israel to be recognized and certified by the Council for Higher Education. The college has grown to be the largest college in Israel.
The program will begin in October 2015. It will be a 15 month long program that will span across four semesters. Three semesters of the dual MBA program will be delivered on the College of Management Academic Studies campus in Israel. Classes in Israel will be held in a half-day format twice a week. The program will also feature an intensive summer semester at the Zicklin School of Business campus in New York City. Classes in New York will be held five days a week over four weeks.
Zicklin Alum Named President of Aviation Technical Services
Zicklin School of Business alumnus Brian Hirshman has been named the president of Aviation Technical Services. Aviation Technical Services (ATS) is one of the largest maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) organizations with over 1,500 employees and facilities in Everett and Moses Lake, WA; Kansas City, MO; and Fort Worth, TX. Hirshman will take over as president of the company May 1.
In his role as President, Hirshman will provide leadership for ATS’ three discrete business units including Airframe, Components and Engineering services, as well as Commercial programs, including sales and marketing. ATS has been providing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for commercial and military aircraft for more than 45 years. ATS supports customers across three major business platforms: Airframe Services; Components Services; Engineering Services.
Zicklin Programs Ranked by US News
The Zicklin School of Business has been ranked among the 100 best graduate schools of business schools by U.S. News & World Report. The Full-Time MBA program was ranked no. 77, the part-time program was ranked no. 58. The Health Care Management program at Baruch was also ranked by US news at no. 29. Overall, Baruch was ranked no. 5 among the best business programs in New York State. The rankings were released in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 Best Graduate School Rankings.
U.S. News ranks professional school programs in business, education, engineering, law and medicine. The rankings are based on two types of data: expert opinions about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students. The data come from surveys sent out to administrators from more than 1,350 programs and more than 13,500 academics and professionals, conducted during the fall of 2014 and early 2015.
