Texas MBA Programs That Don’t Require the GMAT or GRE

Below is a list of business schools in the state of California that don’t require the GMAT or GRE. More information on the GMAT and GRE can be found in our MetroMBA No GMAT and GRE Guide and a complete list of MBA programs in Texas.

Please note that many of these programs are executive MBA programs, which typically cater to applicants with many years of professional experience. Click on a program profile below to see if you meet the eligibility requirements for that program.

Bauer College of Business - University of Houston

Bauer's Executive MBA does not require the GMAT or GRE.

 

OPUS College of Business - University of St. Thomas

The OPUS Healthcare MBA program and the OPUS Executive MBA do not require the GMAT or GRE.

 

Texas A&M University-Commerce

The Texas A&M Commerce does not require the GMAT or GRE for their MBA program.

 

Cox School of Business - Southern Methodist University

The Cox School of Business has made its Professional MBA test-optional for the Spring and Fall of 2021.  In addition, the Cox School of Business Executive MBA does not require the GMAT or GRE.

 

The University of Houston - Downtown

The University of Houston - Downtown offers a GMAT/GRE waiver for its full-time MBA program.  In addition, its part-time MBA program does not require the GMAT or GRE.

 

Hankamar School of Business - Baylor University

The Hankamar School of Business does not require the GMAT or GRE for its Executive MBA program. In addition, it does not require the GMAT or GRE for their Online MBA.

 

Mays School of Business - Texas A&M University 

The GMAT or GRE offers a waiver for their Professional MBA.  In order to be eligible for a waiver, applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria :

  • Advanced degree and a 3.00 GPA or higher in the advanced degree curriculum
  • 2+ years of professional, relevant work experience and a 3.50 GPA or higher in
    undergraduate work (cumulative or last 60 hours)
  • 8+ years of professional relevant work experience and a 3.25 GPA or higher in
    undergraduate work (cumulative or last 60 hours)
  • 12+ years of professional experience.

The Mays School of Business does not require the GMAT or GRE for their Executive MBA.

 

McCombs School of Business - Texas University

The McCombs School of Business is offering GMAT waivers for its MBA programs including their Full-Time MBA, Austin Evening MBA , Austin Executive MBA, Dallas Weekend MBA and the Houston Weekend MBA.  The waiver is available due to the impact of COVID-19 for the 2020-2021 admissions year.  In order to be eligible for a GMAT or GRE waiver, applicants must meet the following:

Applicants who meet both of the criteria below have the opportunity to petition for a special test waiver:

  • You are unable to take an exam in-person at a designated testing center due to lack of availability in your region, or because you or someone in your household is immunocompromised, AND    
  • You are unable to take an exam online due to lack of availability in your region, technology or other test-taking requirements (e.g. device availability or compatibility, slow internet connection, testing environment).

 

Naveen Jindal School of Management - University of Texas - Dallas

GMAT or GRE waivers are available for the Naveen Jindal School of Management Full-Time MBA. To apply for the waiver, please email your request to mba@utdallas.edu.  In addition, the Naveen Jindal School of Management offers GMAT/GRE waivers for their Part-Time MBA program. In order to qualify for a GMAT/GRE waiver may be requested if:

  • Their undergraduate degree from UT Dallas (regardless of their major) and achieved a cumulative GPA at or above 3.500.
  • Their undergraduate degree from a university with an AACSB-accredited business school (regardless of their major) and achieved a cumulative GPA at or above 3.600.
  • Their graduate degree from a university with an AACSB-accredited business school (regardless of their degree’s area of focus) and achieved a cumulative GPA at or above 3.600.

Neeley School of Business - Texas Christian University

The Neeley School of Business Full-Time MBA prefers applicants to take the GMAT or GRE, however it is not required. The only exception made to the test score requirement is for MBA applicants who are CFA® Charterholders, for whom the GMAT requirement is waived automatically.  In addition, the Full-Time Accelerated MBA prefers the GMAT or GRE, however it is not required.

Jones Graduate School of Business - Rice University

The Jones Graduate School of Business Online MBA - MBA@Rice,Professional MBA offers a GMAT/GRE waiver if you meet the following requirements:

 You must have

  • seven or more years of full-time work experience, or
  • a graduate degree in a quantitative field, or
  • a terminal degree (e.g., MD, JD, PhD), or
  • a quantitatively oriented professional certification, or
  • other standardized test scores demonstrating comparable quantitative ability

The Jones Graduate School of Business Executive MBA does not require the GMAT or GRE.

Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business - University of Dallas

The Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business MBA program does not require the GMAT or GRE.

G. Brint Ryan College of Business - University of North Texas

Due to the impact of COVID-19, the G. Brint Ryan College of Business is offering GMAT/GRE waivers for their MBA program.  In order to qualify for a GMAT/GRE the school has outlined the requirements below:

  • A waiver of the GMAT/GRE will be considered for applicants who have an earned doctoral or professional doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution, or its equivalent.
  • A waiver of the GMAT/GRE will be considered for applicants who have an earned master's degree from a regionally accredited institution, or its equivalent, with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on the master's degree.
  • A waiver of the GMAT/GRE will be considered for UNT Honors College graduates with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • A waiver of the GMAT/GRE will be considered for students with a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, or its equivalent, with a cumulative, or last 60 hour GPA, of 3.5 or higher.

University of Texas Arlington

The University of Texas Arlington MBA offers a GMAT/GRE waiver if applicants meet the following requirements:

  • 3.5 GPA (cumulative and last 60 hours of undergraduate degree) from an AACSB accredited school within the last 7 academic years OR
  • Earned graduate degree or graduate certificate (min. 9 hours) from a regionally and/or professionally accredited
    school with a minimum 3.0 GPA for all coursework.
